Winter Workshop

Join STANLEY/BARKER 3rd, 4th and 5th November for an intensive three-day book making workshop.

This is a workshop designed for Photographers with projects ready to publish. We will guide you towards the next step of making your book. You will have chance to individually discuss your projects with Rachel and Gregory Barker as well as attending three lectures on sequencing, design and the importance of good promotion and distribution, along with creative team exercises and critiques designed to give participants a deeper understanding of book making.

Gregory and Rachel Barker are experts in the creation and distribution of Photography books having published more than 70 unique photobooks in the past eight years, including some of the decades most influential titles.



The STANLEY/BARKER Winter workshop is strictly limited to 10 places. Participants with completed bodies of work are encouraged to apply by the deadline of 1st September

Fees: £750 (Includes Lunch and refreshments during the course)

We offer one scholarship opportunity and encourage photographers from all  backgrounds and from black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds and those from the LGBTQ+ community to apply. The successful candidate will be selected based on the strength of the work submitted. Please submit a PDF from one project with a maximum of 25 images as well as a statement explaining how the scholarship will benefit your practice. Incomplete submission will not be considered. Submissions should be made to by the deadline of 1st September.


Shrewsbury in Shropshire is one of England’s finest medieval towns and Birthplace of Charles Darwin. Shrewsbury is accessible by train from all major cities, including Euston London and Birmingham.

Closest Airports to Shrewsbury are Birmingham and East Midlands airports.

Accommodation and travel are not provided, and participants will be required to book their own transport and accommodation.

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided each day during the course
